How does a plant get water taken in by the roots and up to the leaves? How do the root and shoot systems of the plant interact to perform the function of water transport?

The roots must take in enough water and minerals from the soil and deliver it to the organs in the shoot system to ensure that they function properly. Vascular tissue is found in the roots, stems, and leaves of a plant. Xylem is the part of the vascular tissue that carries water and minerals from the roots throughout the plant. Xylem is a continuous network of hollow tubes running through the plant.
