1830
- On April 6, the Mexican government enacted a law that prohibited any further immigration of Americans into Texas.
1832
- Texans met in San Felipe de Austin at the Convention of 1832. Texans adopted several policies and resolutions, in particular a request for separate statehood. Mexico refused to recognize any of the resolutions.
1833
- In April, Texans held another convention in which a state constitution was drafted. The Mexican government rejected the constitution.
1834
- Stephen F. Austin, representing the Convention of 1833, was arrested and imprisoned in Mexico from January to December.
1835
- Tensions between Texas and Mexico increased, and eventually led to war. Several battles were fought during this year.
- On October 2, the Texas Revolution began with the Battle of Gonzales.
- On October 9, the Texans were victorious at the Battle of Goliad.
- On October 28, the Texans won at the Battle of Concepcion.
- On December 11, the Texans captured San Antonio at the Siege of Bexar.
1836
- On March 1, Texans held the Convention of 1836 to form a new government.
- On March 2, Texans adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence.
- On March 6, Texans lost the Battle of the Alamo.
- On March 27, Mexican General Santa Anna executed 400 Texans at the Goliad Massacre.
- On April 21, Texans beat Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto; this victory guaranteed independence for Texas.
